On Days of our Lives, we are going to soon see EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) hauled into the Salem Police Department yet again. This time it looks like EJ might be arrested over the Gabi Chic counterfeit bags. It looks like Rita Lesley (Maggie Carney) is the reason EJ is hauled in by the cops.
We know that Rita has turned her back on EJ since she snatched up his Phoenix ring and sent it off to Dominic Marino (Kyle Pryor). Things are going to get a lot worse soon. We could see EJ arrested for stealing Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez)’s designs to make knockoffs.
Days of our Lives Spoilers: EJ Could Be Arrested Thanks to Rita Over the Counterfeit Bags
It would be kind of wild if EJ finally pays for one of his crimes thanks to Rita. Only it’s not one of EJ’s really heinous crimes that suffers these consequences. It’s not for the deadly Coriseal or Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis)’ poisoning, but for pilfered purses.
It was last month on Days of our Lives when we found out EJ and his once loyal assistant and henchwoman Rita are behind the counterfeit Gabi Chic handbags. Gabi has been trying to get to the bottom of who is stealing her designs and profiting from the knockoffs.
Initially she thought it was Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) or Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) getting revenge on Gabi for her corporate spying. That ticked off Philip, and she had to backpedal. Gabi also suspected somebody at DiMera might have done it. Arianna Horton (Vico Escorcia) panicked because her Gabi Chic bag went missing at her internship.
If you remember, Ari had a prototype bag that Gabi had given her. Ari said it went missing at work for a couple of hours, but then it turned up. That was one more hint to Gabi that somebody at DiMera was involved.
Of course, EJ always denies anything and everything that he’s accused of, and 99% of the time it’s a lie. I suspect this might have been done as EJ’s response to Gabi using her late husband Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash)’s inheritance from Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo)’s estate to bail out Titan.
DOOL Spoilers: Leo and Gwen Help Gabi Track Down the Counterfeiter
Plus, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart), the Salem Spectator‘s investigative reporter, has been helping Gabi try to get to the bottom of this design theft. Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) has also been helping Gabi and Leo. None of them would be surprised to find out EJ is behind this.
In fact, it was Rita who called in an anonymous tip to the Salem PD that Leo was trafficking counterfeit goods. He had boxes of Gabi Chic knockoffs in his hotel room. When Rita called in the tip, Detective Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) came, saw the boxes, arrested Leo and took him down to the SPD.
Luckily, Gabi vouched for Leo. The charges didn’t stick. Even Shawn agreed the whole thing was suspicious when the truth came out. Leo was certain EJ was behind that too.
Leo thought EJ somehow found out and had Leo arrested to take the heat off himself. But it was Rita, because EJ was busy with the Cora Seal cover up, the George O’Halloran (Michael Rose) drama, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman)’s anger, and the missing Phoenix ring on top of the Dominic mystery.
Johnny and Sydney Decode the Mysterious Shipping Documents
This week somebody left a manila envelope at Johnny’s door. He was expecting a kid in a Halloween costume looking for a treat. Instead, he found a trick: DiMera Enterprises shipping documents. That had Johnny scratching his head, so he called Sydney DiMera (Sydney Malakeh) over to the house.
Once Johnny showed Sydney the stack of shipping reports, she stunned Johnny. Sydney quickly deciphered what she was seeing. She told Johnny there were weight differences between the warehouse and the loading dock scale measurements, which is strange.
Sydney talked to Johnny about something being snuck into the cargo containers before the shipment. They also noted this could include a variety of things: stolen goods, firearms, counterfeit items.
Not only that, but Sydney and Johnny saw that their dad’s EJ’s name was all over those dodgy documents. Sydney told Johnny that she would check the documents out further and see what other juicy tidbits the papers might contain.
Spoilers Suggest Rita Delivered the Envelope and Is Working with Dominic
We know that Rita went missing from Salem a few weeks ago and totally ghosted EJ. That had him freaking out and leaving angry voicemails. But with Dominic now in Salem, we saw that Rita is with him.
We know from Dante Vitali (Franco LoPresti)’s conversation with EJ that Rita has been around Dominic for decades. He said Rita brought Dominic to and from their fancy boarding school. So Rita was part of Stefano’s secret, and Rita’s definitely linked to what happened soon to EJ with the Salem PD.
I’ve got a feeling that it was Rita who hand delivered that envelope of evidence to Johnny, knowing he wouldn’t turn a blind eye. EJ has forsaken Johnny and labeled him an unforgivable disappointment. Some turn of phrase like that.
EJ hissed at Johnny because he betrayed him by turning him into the cops for the Cora Seal cover up. It turns out EJ has another betrayal coming soon that involves the cops. And it involves somebody else he once trusted: Rita.
Theo and Chad Join the Hunt on Days of our Lives
Now we have Sydney involved in figuring out the shipping mystery. Days of our Lives spoilers say Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews) and Chad DiMera (Conner Floyd) agree to help Johnny this week. Both have worked at DiMera. They might be able to help Johnny and Sydney get to the bottom of this.
Theo is consulting with Gabi, using his computer skills to try to track the counterfeiters. Chad may bring some of the info to Leo to help his investigation for the Spectator.
It all seems like this is part of Dominic’s master plan to take down EJ. Then Dominic can take what he sees as his rightful place as the true DiMera Empire heir.
Rita’s Interrogation Room Moment in the Promo
EJ has messed up so much, honestly, it’s a miracle he’s not already in Statesville. I mean, heck, Rita might have even suggested the fake Gabi Chic bag scheme to him so that she could put out these breadcrumbs to lead back to EJ. I’m sure also that Rita managed to keep her own hands clean. It’s likely just EJ’s name on the documents. Watch the full video on YouTube.
In the big fall and winter promo, EJ is in the SPD interrogation room and Rita is there. She tells EJ that she always loved him like he was her own flesh and blood. As Rita says this, EJ is glaring. I think at this point he figures out that Rita has thoroughly turned on him. EJ may doubt that he ever once had her loyalty.
Thanks to Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) and Xander, the ISA has George’s laptop that could turn up some evidence on EJ, but I doubt it. I think only George will be implicated. But with somebody, likely Rita, giving Johnny the suspicious shipping reports, it looks like EJ’s days are numbered.
Will the SPD Finally Hold EJ Accountable?
Gabi and Leo are pushing for answers. So are Johnny and Sydney. I suspect it all comes together. Johnny already went to the cops about EJ for the Cora Seal. He might do it again, especially since he and Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) are about to leave town and move to Italy.
But I have a feeling that, even with the shipping documents and Gabi’s accusations, it won’t be an easy one for the SPD. I mean, EJ is slippery like an eel. He’s hard to pin down, and he rarely is punished or has any consequences for his crimes.
But thanks to Rita’s ultimate betrayal, the cops might finally have a chance to put EJ behind bars. We’ll see how it goes.
