Spice Girls Celebrate 30 Years of ‘Wannabe’ With Collectible Tiny Vinyl Release

Three decades after they burst onto the global stage with a rallying cry for friendship, fun, and Girl Power, the Spice Girls are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their breakthrough hit ‘Wannabe’ with a special collectible Tiny Vinyl release.

Pressed on Cobalt Transparent vinyl, the limited edition disc (which is available to pre-order now) will include the global sensation single plus its original b-side, ‘Bumper To Bumper’.

Tiny Vinyl is a new pocket-sized record format designed for collectors and music fans alike. Each miniature disc features one track per side and is compatible with most manual turntables. However, playback may be restricted on some automatic turntables, particularly models with non-adjustable auto-stop functions or tonearms that cannot track close enough to the centre of the record.

Originally released in 1996, ‘Wannabe’ transformed the five-piece – Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, and Geri Halliwell – from aspiring pop stars into a worldwide phenomenon. The single topped charts across the globe, became the best-selling song by a girl group in history, and helped define the sound and attitude of late-90s pop culture.

The anniversary edition arrives as part of a wider celebration of the song’s enduring legacy. The miniature vinyl release offers fans and collectors a nostalgic keepsake marking the milestone, underscoring the track’s continued influence nearly 30 years after its debut.

Written by the band with Richard ‘Biff’ Stannard and Matt Rowe,  the song topped the charts in a staggering 37 countries and remains one of the most recognisable pop songs ever recorded. Its iconic opening laugh, infectious chorus, and unapologetically upbeat message helped establish the Spice Girls as one of the biggest acts of their era, selling millions of records and inspiring a generation of fans around the world.

The anniversary festivities have included a series of commemorative projects and licensed merchandise, reflecting the group’s lasting cultural impact. Despite ongoing fan speculation about a full-scale reunion, Melanie C recently indicated that no official reunion plans are currently in place to coincide with the anniversary year.

Even without a reunion on the horizon, the release serves as a reminder of the song’s remarkable staying power. Thirty years on, ‘Wannabe’ continues to resonate across generations, proving that the Spice Girls’ message of friendship and empowerment remains as relevant as ever.

For longtime fans and vinyl collectors alike, the tiny record is more than a novelty item – it’s a celebration of one of pop music’s most enduring anthems.
