ensex Today, Nifty 50 | Stock Market Live Updates – Find here all the live updates related to Sensex, Nifty, BSE, NSE, share prices and Indian stock markets for 21st May 2026.

Equity markets are expected to open on a subdued note as investors remain cautious amid escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia, elevated crude oil prices, persistent FPI selling and continued weakness in the rupee. The combination of external headwinds has reinforced a risk-off mood, limiting investors’ appetite for equities.

Rupee falls 6 paise to 96.42 against US dollar in early trade.

Market analysis by Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com

Bitcoin traded near $65,200 on Tuesday, up about 1.1% over 24 hours, as five consecutive sessions of US spot Bitcoin ETF inflows supported the recovery from June’s lows. The move remains a consolidation rather than a confirmed breakout. Immediate support lies around $64,500-$65,000, followed by $63,700-$64,000. Resistance is near $65,700. If Bitcoin breaks above this level, the next technical hurdle is around $67,000. On-chain data also shows the short-term holder cost basis near $69,000, making it a more significant resistance level.

The market structure is stabilising, but remains fragile. Spot volumes remain subdued even as futures and options open interest expands. Perpetual futures buying has improved. Demand for downside protection has also eased. However, the growing share of short-term, price-sensitive investors leaves Bitcoin vulnerable to sharper price swings. The contraction in monthly realised capital also indicates that fresh spot demand remains cautious.

ETF flows have become more supportive. After recording a $424.7 million outflow on July 13, US spot Bitcoin ETFs rebounded with $181.1 million in inflows on July 14. They attracted a further $107.7 million on July 15, $79.1 million on July 16, $132.3 million on July 17, and $110.3 million on July 20. Those five positive sessions total $610.5 million, leaving the period since July 13 modestly positive by $185.8 million.

Our advice: Investors should avoid chasing the move above $65,000. Staggered accumulation and disciplined position sizing remain preferable until Bitcoin clears $65,700 with stronger spot volume and continued ETF demand.

Pre- market analysis by Gaurav Udani, Founder – Thincredbu Securities Pvt. Ltd.

“Nifty is expected to open lower around 24,140, down nearly 80 points, indicating a cautious start as markets react to mixed global cues.

The index continues to trade within a defined range, making today’s session important from a technical perspective. 24,000–24,050 remains the immediate support zone, while 24,300–24,400 will act as the key resistance range.

With the earnings season in full swing, stock-specific action is likely to remain high, while global developments will continue to influence overall market sentiment.

Traders should avoid aggressive positions at the open and watch how Nifty behaves around the key support levels. Until the index delivers a decisive breakout above resistance or below support, a disciplined, level-based approach remains the preferred strategy.”

Rupee Set for Weak Start as Oil Rally Boosts Dollar Demand

The Indian rupee is expected to come under pressure at Tuesday’s open, with high crude prices and a bearish turn in derivative ‌market positioning supporting demand for the dollar.

The rupee is expected to open in the 96.50 to 96.55 range, traders said, after settling at 96.4450 on Monday.

The Indian currency slipped past 96.50 in the ‌previous session for the first time in two months and would likely have weakened further ‌had it not been for intervention by ‌the Reserve Bank of India, traders said.

The rupee’s outlook has deteriorated in recent weeks, coinciding with a rally in oil prices amid renewed tensions between the U.S. and Iran. Brent crude rose above $91 ‌a barrel on Monday before pulling back to around $88.50.

Markets End Lower as Banking Blues Offset Earnings Beat

Markets closed lower on Monday as disappointing net interest margins from a key private-sector lender and renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East kept investors cautious throughout the session, even as public-sector banks and pharma stocks provided some support.

The Nifty 50 settled at 24,238.50, down 95 points or 0.39 per cent, after opening 144 points lower. The Sensex closed at 77,708, shedding 443 points. ICICI Bank beat estimates by 12 per cent and gained nearly 3 per cent. Axis Bank posted a profit beat but fell sharply. HDFC Bank came in broadly in line, but its net interest margin slipped to a record low amid deposit competition, which was enough for the market to sell it. The private bank index fell 2.3 per cent. The broader read is that the Street had spent two weeks buying ahead of results. Once the numbers confirmed what was already priced in, sellers arrived.
