Clearlake Capital will acquire Todd Boehly and Mark Walter’s shares in Chelsea Football Club, it has been announced.
Boehly and Walter own close to 26 per cent of the club having first purchased stakes in Chelsea in May 2022.

It means Clearlake Capital, founded by Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, have ‘full control’ of the Premier League club.
talkSPORT understands the sale of the 26 per cent share is worth £950million with a total valuation of near £5billion, including the debt.
Meanwhile, stakeholder Hansjorg Wyss is understood to have increased his 12.8 per cent stake by joining Clearlake in acquiring part of Boehly’s ownership interest.
With his stake being acquired, Boehly will no longer be the chairman of Chelsea.
However, the club insist that day-to-day operations will not change.
Boehly statement
“It has been an honour to serve as chairman of Chelsea Football Club,” Boehly, co-owner of MLB franchise LA Dodgers said.
“I would like to thank the many who helped secure a bright future for the club, including the English Premier League, the coaches and players, the talented leadership and staff at Chelsea, and the legions of dedicated fans.
“I have valued my partnership with Clearlake and the wider ownership group, and the collective decisions and investment we have made to support the immediate and long-term success of the Club.
“I am confident that Chelsea is well positioned for continued success under Clearlake’s leadership.”
Eghbali and Feliciano statement
“Todd has been an important partner throughout our ownership of Chelsea, and we thank him for his time and contribution as chairman,” Eghbali and Feliciano said.

“He will always be a part of the Chelsea story and family. Clearlake has served as Chelsea’s majority owner since 2022, and as we move to full control our focus is to continue investing in the club’s infrastructure, sporting performance, player development and delivering long-term success for Chelsea and the club’s supporters.”
Boehly was the face of the Chelsea ownership ever since their 2022 acquisition was completed.
The American joined the club alongside Clearlake Capital in a period of uncertainty amid sanctions on predecessor Roman Abramovich following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
A 12th-place finish in the Premier League signalled a dreadful first season for Chelsea’s new custodians, and Boehly was a focal point for criticism from fans and those outside the club.
However, despite continuous managerial upheaval and a questionable transfer policy, the Blues eventually won more silverware in 2025 with Conference League and Club World Cup glory.
Boehly also oversaw some successful signings as chairman, with Cole Palmer being the most notable having hit 58 goals and 34 assists in 137 appearances since signing from Manchester City three years ago.

Moises Caicedo and Joao Pedro are among the other hits as well as Estevao Willian, who chose Chelsea over European titans Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Morgan Rogers, who became the club’s record signing in a £117m move from Aston Villa in the summer, has already been a success in the Chelsea attack.
Boehly was also present at numerous matches, both at Stamford Bridge and other venues, during his time as chairman.
Chelsea have ongoing plans to either redevelop Stamford Bridge or move to a new stadium which are said to have created tensions between Boehly’s camp and Clearlake.
However, given that he and Clearlake Capital were at loggerheads just two years into their joint-ownership, the latest structural change should allow for a more streamlined plan of action going forward.
