    Stock in focus: Bandhan Bank

JPM on Bandhan BK: Neutral, TP Rs 175

Guidance cut was key focus in Bandhan’s 1QFY27 earnings call with a significant cut in FY27 RoA and growth targets.

Bandhan has cut 4QFY27 RoA guidance by 40bps to 1.2-1.4% (vs 1.6-1.8% earlier) driven primarily by external factors:

    (i) 30bps RoA impact from moderation in NIM outlook (from 6.5% to 1Q level of 6.2%) on account of tighter liquidity and elevated funding costs, and

(ii) 10bps RoA impact from elevated opex especially rising technology related costs (from 4.2% to 1Q level of 4.3%).

Nomura on Bandhan BK: Neutral, TP Rs 190

1QFY27 PAT of INR5bn (+35% y-y, -6% q-q) beat estimate by 8%, driven by strong NII, fee income and lower credit costs.

Bank raised average SA rates by 20bp and peak TD rates by 20bp towards the end of 1Q, on intense deposit competition, so cost impact will flow through over coming quarters

This comes as a surprise given had expected funding costs to ease on RBI’s supportive measures.

Asset quality held up: credit costs at 1.8% (down slightly q-q), though gross slippages ticked up to 2.9% (vs 2.8% in 4QFY26)

Cut FY27-28F EPS by 4-7%, building in 18-24bp lower NIMs even after lowering credit cost assumptions to 1.8% (from 2%).

CLSA on Bandhan Bk: O-P, TP Rs 235

While NII beat estimate by 4%, lower treasury gains and higher Opex led to a PAT miss.

Gross loan growth optically accelerated to 16% due to a low YoY base.

Reported NIM was stable at 6.2% QoQ.

Jefferies on Bandhan Bk: Buy TP Rs 240

Macquarie on Bandhan Bank: Recommendation — Underperform; Target ₹130

    Uncertain road to recovery

    PAT misses estimates

Margin outlook cut; credit costs remain elevated

    Stock in focus: TVS Motors

CLSA on TVS Motors: O-P, TP raised to Rs 4384

Delivered an 1QFY27 Ebitda margin of 12.8% (-31bps QoQ), 60bps ahead of estimate, despite a 3.5% QoQ rise in commodity costs.

TVSL offset the impact through a 1.5% price hike, operating leverage, cost optimisation initiatives and favourable currency movements, with exports contributing 26% of revenue. Management remains confident in sustaining volume momentum & expects to outperform industry for both domestic & export markets.

Jefferies on TVS Motors: Buy, TP raised to Rs 4900

Raise FY27-29 EPS by 4-5%; we are 7-21% above Street.

Peak of margin concern also seems behind.

    TVS’s 39x FY27E PE appears rich (10Y avg 35x) but justified

Macquarie on TVS Motors: Recommendation — Outperform; Target ₹4325

Strong start to the year; sustainability remains key

    Margins resilient; asset quality strengthens

    Sustainability remains the key test

  • July 22, 2026 09:04

    Stock in focus: Bajaj Auto

Bernstein on Bajaj Auto: O-p, TP Rs 11500

    Delivered a strong quarter.

While other auto companies benefited primarily from GST cuts and supportive domestic policies, Bajaj’s performance was driven largely by its own execution

Would also highlight Bajaj’s earnings call as a benchmark for disclosure quality.

Management was transparent on strategy, commodity inflation, production disruptions, & path from margin pressure to EBITDA recovery, providing a level of detail that remains best-in-class among 2W OEMs.

CLSA on Bajaj Auto: O-p TP Rs 12068

1QFY27 Ebitda margin of 20.9% (+9bps QoQ and 69bps ahead of estimate), despite commodity cost inflation of 4.5% QoQ

MOSL on Bajaj Auto: Upgrade to Buy, TP Rs 12096

    Promising outlook across segments

Earnings beat led by strong margins

Free cash flow generation reached INR23b in 1QFY27, doubling YoY and representing approximately 80% cash conversion of PAT.

Jefferies on Bajaj Auto: Hold, TP Rs 11500

Q1 EBITDA and PAT rose 42-45% YoY, 5-7% above JEFe led by better-than-expected margins.

EBITDA margin was up a slight 10bp QoQ despite severe commodity cost headwinds.

Pre-Market Analysis | Gaurav Udani, Founder – ThinCredBlu Securities

“Nifty is expected to open lower around 24,120, down nearly 70 points, indicating a cautious start amid mixed global cues.

The index continues to trade within a narrow range, with 24,000–24,050 acting as the immediate support zone. Holding above this range will be important to maintain the current market structure. On the upside, 24,300–24,400 remains the key resistance area, where fresh selling pressure could emerge.

Markets are also likely to remain influenced by ongoing quarterly earnings and global developments, keeping stock-specific volatility elevated.

Traders should avoid aggressive positions at the open and wait for confirmation around key technical levels. Until Nifty breaks out of the current range, a disciplined, level-based approach remains the preferred strategy

Government Bonds Likely to Fall at Open on Rising Crude, Higher US Treasury Yields

Government bonds are poised to fall at the open on Wednesday, as a widening U.S.-Iran conflicthas lifted crude prices and U.S. Treasury ‌yields, clouding India’s macroeconomic outlook and sapping risk appetite.

The benchmark 6.94% 2036 bond yield is likely to move in a 6.80% to 6.86% range, a trader at a private-sector bank said. The yield settled at 6.7938% on ‌Tuesday.

Rupee to resume slide under mounting pressure from oil surge

The rupee is poised to open lower on Wednesday, reversing a brief relief rally, in the wake of a ‌further rise in oil prices following fresh exchanges of strikes between the United States and Iran.

The rupee is expected to open in the 96.40-96.45 range, traders said, after inching up ‌0.2% to close at 96.23 in the previous session. That marked the Indian ‌currency’s best day in two weeks, buoyed ‌by robust inflows linked to a set of measures announced by the central bank to support the rupee.

Market analysis by Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com

Bitcoin traded near $66,300 on Wednesday, gaining about 1.7% over the past 24 hours. The recovery was supported by improving institutional demand and firmer global equity markets, extending the rebound from June’s lows. Immediate support lies around $65,400-$65,500, followed by the stronger $64,500-$65,000 region. Resistance is visible near $66,900-$67,000, with the short-term-holder breakeven area around $68,000 presenting a more significant hurdle before $70,000.

On-chain conditions are becoming more balanced, although the rally is not yet being driven by strong spot demand. The spot volumes remain subdued, while futures and options open interest has expanded. Perpetual-market buying has improved, and demand for downside protection has eased. However, the growing share of short-term, price-sensitive capital leaves Bitcoin vulnerable to sharper volatility.

The July 28-29 Federal Reserve meeting remains the principal macro catalyst. All 104 economists surveyed by Reuters expect rates to remain at 3.50%-3.75%, although markets see one increase by December as probable. Brent crude near $91.55 and the 10-year Treasury yield around 4.63% could keep the Fed cautious.

Our advice: Investors should avoid chasing Bitcoin near resistance. Staggered accumulation and disciplined position sizing remain preferable until the price clears $68,000 with sustained spot volume and ETF demand.
