tock Market on 17 March 2026 | Share Market Updates – Find here all the updates related to Sensex, Nifty, BSE, NSE, share prices and Indian stock markets.
Indian equity markets extended gains on Tuesday, supported by strong buying in metal and auto stocks, even as rising crude oil prices capped the upside.
The Sensex and Nifty rose around 0.75%, marking a second straight session of gains after last week’s correction, as valuations turned more attractive.
Metal stocks surged on positive outlooks, while auto shares rebounded after a sharp recent fall. However, persistent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and elevated crude prices near $103 per barrel continue to weigh on sentiment, triggering sustained foreign investor outflows.
Analysts caution that volatility may persist, though short covering could drive a near-term market bounce.
Today’s top 5 trading highlights
* Markets extend rally: Sensex jumped nearly 600 points and Nifty closed near 23,600, marking a second straight session of gains after last week’s correction.
* Metals and autos lead gains: Metal stocks surged on positive outlook, while auto shares rebounded after last week’s sharp 10% plus decline.
* Crude oil caps upside: Brent crude hovered around $103 per barrel amid West Asia tensions and Strait of Hormuz disruptions, limiting market gains.
* FII selling continues: Foreign investors have pulled out about $6.9 billion in March, weighing on sentiment despite domestic buying support.
* Broad-based buying returns: Most sectoral indices advanced, with mid- and small-cap stocks also gaining, indicating improved risk appetite after valuation correction.

Market analysis by Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com
Bitcoin traded around $75,500 on March 17, moving within an intraday range of roughly $72,400 to $75,900. The price action shows strength, but the market is still in a consolidation phase rather than a confirmed breakout.
From a trading perspective, the immediate support lies around $72,000–$72,500. This matches the lower end of the recent range. A break below that could bring the $70,000 level back into focus. On the upside, $75,500–$76,000 is the first resistance zone. Bitcoin needs to hold above this level to sustain momentum.
On-chain data remains supportive. Wallets holding 10 to 10,000 BTC have slightly increased their share of supply to around 68%, indicating continued accumulation. Bitcoin dominance is also elevated near 58–59%, suggesting capital is still concentrated in BTC.
Institutional demand has not weakened. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw about $60 million in inflows on March 16, following stronger flows of $180 million on March 13. This shows steady, though not aggressive, institutional participation.
Altcoins moved in line with Bitcoin. Around March 14, Ethereum traded near $2,150–$2,200, BNB around $670, XRP near $1.44, Solana around $90, and TRON close to $0.29. The gains were modest and largely synchronized with BTC. Macro remains the key driver.
The U.S. Federal Reserve’s March 17–18 meeting is in focus. Markets expect rates to be held, but guidance on inflation and rate cuts will matter. With oil prices elevated, inflation risks remain. That keeps pressure on risk assets.
Our advice: Bitcoin is holding near $75,000, supported by ETF inflows and steady accumulation, but the market is still reacting to macro cues. With the Fed decision ahead, this is a time for discipline, not aggressive positioning. Watch whether BTC can hold above resistance before assuming a breakout.

Quote: Nifty likely to open around 23,500 with mild positive bias: Gaurav Udani
Gaurav Udani, Founder of ThinCredBlu Securities Pvt. Ltd., said that Nifty is expected to open on a positive note. The index is likely to start the session around the 23,500 mark.
The recovery from the recent lows suggests some stability returning to the market. However, the broader structure still remains sensitive to global cues.
From a technical perspective, 22,900 continues to act as an important support level. Meanwhile, 23,600 remains an immediate resistance zone where selling pressure may emerge.
Today being weekly expiry, traders can expect heightened volatility as derivatives positions get adjusted through the session.
Despite the volatility, the market currently carries a mild positive bias following the recent rebound from lower levels.
Traders should remain disciplined with risk management. They should avoid aggressive positioning during sharp intraday swings.

Japan Underlying inflation is gradually moving toward the Bank of Japan’s 2 per cent target amid global energy uncertainty.
Indonesia The government plans budget cuts to offset sustained high oil prices rather than expanding fiscal deficits.
South Korea Seoul underscored the Strait of Hormuz’s critical importance to national economic security amid energy supply risks.

Brazil Growth and 2026 rate outlook remain in focus.
Russia Energy-linked disruptions and sanctions-related tanker issues remain in the backdrop.
Guinea Authorities are considering bauxite export quotas amid falling prices and rising freight costs.
Ghana Higher oil prices from the West Asia conflict are clouding inflation and monetary policy prospects.
Nigeria Headline inflation eased slightly to 15.06 per cent year-on-year in February following earlier rate cuts.
Australia Markets are watching the RBA decision closely as high oil prices and strong copper prices shape economic expectations.
New Zealand Treasury assessments warn that the Iran conflict could lift inflation and pressure the energy-import-dependent economy.

Bitcoin enters accumulation phase with steady demand: Pi42
Bitcoin is showing early signs of entering a structural accumulation phase. On-chain data indicates steady buyer absorption and a continued decline in exchange balances.
Investors appear to be moving assets into long-term custody even as prices hold near the psychologically important $70,000 zone.
Renewed institutional participation through ETF inflows and visible whale accumulation is also helping build a stronger demand base. This comes despite global macro uncertainty.
For investors, this phase calls for disciplined positioning rather than chasing short-term price spikes.
Gradual allocation strategies such as staggered buying, maintaining adequate liquidity buffers, and focusing on long-term portfolio balance can help navigate ongoing volatility.
Watching key resistance levels around $73,000 to $75,000 will be important. A sustained move above this range could indicate the next expansion cycle, while consolidation in the near term remains likely.
