Manchester United are back in Premier League action after a 4-0 win over Sabah in the Champions League on Thursday, as they take on Manchester City on matchday four on Sunday at 16:30 local time at Old Trafford, looking to continue their winning run at home.
The Red Devils have been in decent form lately, particularly in attack, with 11 goals in their last three matches in all competitions, and will be looking to inflict Man City’s first defeat of the season in the highly anticipated derby.
Here is a look at the playing eleven Mikel Arteta is expected to employ.
Goalkeeper – Senne Lammens is expected to retain his place between the sticks for Man United.
Defenders – Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw are expected to be back in the starting eleven for United after being rested in the Champions League game. The full back duo could replace Noussair Mazraoui and Patrick Dorgu in the back four, respectively.
Meanwhile, Leny Yoro could also return to the bench to make way for the more experienced Harry Maguire with the English international the favourite to partner with Lisandro Martinez in central defence.
Cunha and Sesko start
Midfielders – Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans have been the go-to pairing for Manchester United in the double pivot, at least as far as Carlos Baleba remains injured. The duo are expected to retain their berths in the line-up against Manchester City, while skipper Bruno Fernandes is also the firm favourite to start as the attacking midfielder.
Bryan Mbeumo, who has scored in his last two Premier League games, is expected to play on the right wing and Matheus Cunha, another one of the Red Devils’ in-form stars could be used on the left flank.
Forward – Benjamin Sesko is expected to lead the line after two goals in his last two appearances for Manchester United.
