Lizzo has revealed intimate details about herself on the “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast, telling the three hosts information that she has kept secret for years. In a candid discussion, the singer talked about when she lost her virginity and her reasons behind the decision.
Lizzo Kept A Promise She Made To Herself
On the “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast released on March 31, Lizzo, real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson, talked about her virginity with hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Lil Dicky’s wife, Kristin Batalucco.
As the hosts kept guessing what age she lost her virginity, 37-year-old Lizzo revealed that she was a “late bloomer” and it happened in 2020. She explained, saying, “I wasn’t even thinking about it. I promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy.”
The hosts were in disbelief, with Blanco asking, “Are you serious?” to which Lizzo replied, “I’m so dead a-s.” Lil Dicky then asked if she thought she would have stuck to her decision if she hadn’t won a Grammy in 2020. “Who knows?” the singer replied.
The Singer Lied About It For Years

Lil Dicky asked the “Truth Hurts” singer whether it happened on the night of her Grammy win, adding, “If you did, that was definitely the best night of your life.” Lizzo said that it didn’t happen that night, but alluded to it happening soon after.
Lil Dicky noted that he used to lie about his virginity and asked if Lizzo did the same thing, and she answered in the affirmative. “I used to lie. It was so embarrassing! Actually, I feel like a weight off my chest right now,” Lizzo declared.
She then recalled one instance when she was with a group of her friends, and they asked if she was a virgin. She vehemently denied it, exclaiming, “No!” before saying, “I love the D!” adding that the moment was “so f-cking embarrassing.”
The singer said that losing her virginity wasn’t on her mind as soon as she won a Grammy, saying that she thought “it wasn’t in the cards” for her.
Lizzo Had Her First Kiss At 21 Years Old

The “Juice” singer also confessed that she didn’t have her first kiss until she was 21 years old because of religious reasons. “When we were teenagers, at my church, we all made a pact that we wouldn’t do anything before marriage,” she said. Later on, she said nobody wanted to kiss her.
Recalling her first kiss, she said she was “very upset” about how it happened. Lizzo didn’t go into detail about it or who her first kiss was, but she said it happened on New Year’s Eve, and the kiss was “forced” on her. “I was really mad and I was like, ‘My first kiss is ruined’,” she said.
Lizzo Is In A Happy Relationship

Elsewhere in the conversation, Lizzo talked about her relationship with comedian and designer Myke Wright. The two met in 2016 when they worked on MTV’s live music series “Wonderland.” However, they didn’t start dating until years later. As the singer said, she didn’t like mixing business with pleasure and had no interest in him when they first met.
The two remained in contact and were friends until they took their relationship to the next level in 2021. In an appearance on “The Howard Stern Show” in 2022, Lizzo talked about her relationship and said she was “100 percent” in love with Wright and sees herself spending the rest of her life with him.
In September 2025, Lizzo gushed about Wright, telling New York magazine, “I’m really grateful to have someone who’s extremely supportive, who doesn’t ask for sh-t from me, nor does he need sh-t from me. He pours into me. He takes care of me.”
Lizzo Has Won Multiple Grammy Awards

Lizzo achieved mainstream success in 2019 with her viral hit song “Truth Hurts.” In the same year, TIME magazine named her Entertainer of the Year.
In 2020, she was nominated for eight Grammy awards and took home three wins: Best Urban Contemporary Album for “Cuz I Love You,” Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts,” and Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Jerome.” In 2023, the singer took home another Grammy award for Record of the Year for “About Damn Time.”
Lizzo has just released her new single, “Don’t Make Me Love U,” in March.
