Khloé Kardashian is opening up about how she chose the names for her kidsn, True and Tatum.
During the Wednesday episode of her podcast Khloé in Wonder Land, the reality star answered a fan question about the baby names she once considered before deciding on the ones her children have today.
Kardashian, who shares daughter True, 7, and son Tatum, 3, with ex Tristan Thompson, when it came to naming her son, the process took time.
“Well, Tatum, I don’t think I landed on a name for 9 months, which [was] after he was born. Which is crazy,” she admitted. “We called him ‘baby’ at first and then we would just call him ‘Rob’ sometimes.”
She said she explored a few different options before settling on Tatum.
“I wanted a T name [but] something still unique but not too unique. Not crazy. I think the wildest name I liked for him was ‘Tiger,’” she said.
While it took time to decide on her son’s name, Kardashian said she always felt confident about the name she chose for her daughter, though Thompson had a different idea at the time.
“And then for True, there was no real options. I just knew it was True. I loved the name True. But Tristan wanted to name her Khalessi,” she continued. “This was in the big Game of Thrones era. And I just knew we weren’t naming her Khalessi. But I think that was the only name I could think of. But it wasn’t going to happen.”
“Khalessi…crazy,” she added, laughing.
Kardashian then explained that the name True has a deeper family connection.
“So True’s name is MJ’s first husband, my mom’s real dad, who passed away before my mom was like 16. His name was Robert True. And his dad was True something,” she explained.
“And so my grandma when we were at dinner and I was like, ‘What am I going to name this baby? I really want a T name.’ I wanted their initials to be TT,” she continued. “And she was like, ‘Why not True? That’s your grandfather’s name.’ Anyways, that’s where that name came from.”
Kardashian welcomed daughter True in April 2018 and her son Tatum in July 2022.
