Jazlyn “Jazzy” Guerra is expanding Jazzy’s World TV with her new series, *Limitless Boundaries*.
In a recent interview with ESSENCE Girls United, Guerra opened up about the show and offered advice for young people hoping to get their start in journalism.
While many viewers know Guerra for her street interviews, she said sit-down conversations have been part of her work for years.
“I really only did street interviews during the beginning of my career. For the last four years, we have also been doing sit-down long-form interviews, but I wanted to offer more long-form content that multiple generations could watch and learn from,” she explained.
With Limitless Boundaries, Guerra explores how her guests have overcome obstacles and pursued their goals. Hearing their stories has reinforced her belief that success does not follow one formula.
“There is so much, but I think overall everyone had to find their own path. There is not one path to become successful. Everyone has their own journey.”
Guerra’s own journey began with an iPad and a microphone. For aspiring journalists who worry about having the right equipment, she encourages them to start with what they have.
“Never give up and use whatever equipment you have. Everyone successful had to start somewhere. We are in a time where all you need to start is a phone, and the internet makes anything possible.”
When preparing for interviews, Guerra looks for ways to get her subjects talking about experiences that could inspire viewers. She also makes it a priority to ask questions she can stand behind.
“I value keeping my questions focused with value and integrity. I would never compromise that for a view or click. I try to find information and be creative for them to open up more about inspiring topics in their journey.”
Alongside her work, Guerra is navigating high school and making time to enjoy being a teenager. With support from her family, she continues to build a platform she hopes will encourage others to believe in their possibilities.
“I hope that my platform inspires people that anything is possible. I hope that journalism doesn’t fade away as the new generation and content that is informative continues to shift. I hope to carry the torch in bringing content with value and integrity.”
