A U.S. official said a missile attack carried out by Iran toward Jordan was “ineffective.”
“Iran’s response was ineffective in face of integrated air and missile defenses,” the official said. “Iran fired missiles toward Jordan. American forces have 100% accountability at all locations in Jordan.”
The Iranian missile barrage came after the U.S. said it destroyed five Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps oil tankers on Tuesday in response to the targeting of a U.S. Navy warship.
In an earlier statement, the Jordanian Armed Forces said Jordanian air defense systems intercepted 20 ballistic missiles launched toward Jordanian territory, successfully intercepting and destroying 18 of them, while two missiles fell in remote areas.
No loss of life was recorded, according to the Jordanian army statement.
