Steven Caulker has provided an update on his search for coaching opportunities following a viral social media post.
The former defender took to LinkedIn on Sunday to share details of a ‘stressful’ spell away from football.
Caulker has been without a job since leaving his role as assistant manager at Turkish side Konyaspor last month.
The 34-year-old spent eight months with the club, joining their coaching staff in February.
It followed his decision to retire from football in November 2025 after a spell in Iceland with Stjarnan.
Caulker had juggled playing with a role as assistant manager during his time at the Scandinavian club.
Meanwhile, he was previously a player-coach for Spanish outfit Malaga Juniors back in 2024.
Since leaving Turkey, though, Caulker has been unable to secure a role in England despite his experience and coaching badges.
The former Sierra Leone international joined Hawksbee and Jacobs on Monday to provide an update on his employment search.
Asked about the response to his LinkedIn post, he revealed: “Do you know what? I wrote that post yesterday morning and I think my phone has not stopped ringing.”
Caulker continued: “It’s a good thing. I’m just in a situation where I wanted to leave Turkey.
“I wanted to come back and look to develop my coaching in the UK or maybe Europe, but I felt that it was time to come back closer to home.

“I spent a long time on the road and I’ve come back and I’ve been applying for jobs, I’m doing all the networking. It’s just a case of waiting for the right opportunity to appear.
“The difficult thing when you’re in a situation like this, or what I’m finding difficult, is to then say no to jobs that don’t align with my vision.
“Ultimately, I want to be a Premier League manager and I know that I’ve got a lot of work to get there, but I want to make sure that I’m on the right path, learning from the right people and making the right decisions along the way.”
Caulker made 123 Premier League appearances as a player for Cardiff City, QPR, Swansea City, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Southampton.
He also represented Wigan Athletic in the EFL and had a brief spell in Scotland with Dundee.
As well as winning 18 caps for Sierra Leone, the centre-back was capped once by England in 2012.

It followed his inclusion in the Team GB squad at the London Olympics earlier that year.
Alongside his coaching career, Caulker founded his own wellbeing consultancy firm last November following his retirement.
