Days of Our Lives reveals that Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) just made amends after Cat quit her job. Of course, EJ was quite upset. And then this week, Cat came over to drop stuff off, clearly trying to provoke EJ, and it worked. So, Cat wound up in his arms kissing EJ. But can he really trust Cat?
And honestly, EJ and Cat could both be fooling each other in a risky game of cat and mouse. Let’s get into the details of EJ and Cat’s makeup and make-out session.
Days of Our Lives: Cat’s ISA Secret
So, Cat quit working for EJ when he began to mistrust her after she admitted she was a former ISA agent. But Cat lied by omission and failed to tell EJ that she’s still currently working for the spy agency for Andrew Donovan (Colton Little). And even worse, EJ is Cat’s assignment, and EJ is clueless, as far as we know.
And if you remember, Cat and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) teamed up last year. So, it’s been more than a year that they’ve been investigating EJ’s criminal deeds at Salem University Hospital. Cat was supposed to be doing analysis like usual, but she’s gotten way more hands-on with EJ’s case, and Rafe and Andrew are concerned.
Cat Returns and EJ Kisses Her on DOOL
So, after EJ gave her the cold shoulder over the ISA thing, Cat thought, “Okay, if I walk away from EJ, maybe he’ll chase me.” And it worked. This week on Days of Our Lives, Cat went to the DiMera mansion to return her key and other items she had as EJ’s assistant. And Cat snarked to EJ that she copied the house key and his hard drive to give them to the ISA. And what’s funny is Cat actually might have done that.
Then she and EJ hashed things out, and he admitted to Cat that he doesn’t know who to trust. Not even his son, since Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) has squealed to the Salem PD. He outed EJ about the Coriseal cover-up. Even worse, his ride-or-die, Rita Lesley (Maggie Carney), has turned on him and has now taken off. She wouldn’t tell EJ the truth about Dominic Marino and whether or not he was his long-lost brother.
Plus, Rita stole EJ’s Phoenix ring, and she sent it to Dominic. So, EJ is at this very vulnerable spot, and he practically begged Cat to come work as his personal assistant again and to be his friend. And EJ also made clear he wants Cat to possibly be more than friends. Then EJ and Cat shared a passionate kiss.
And when EJ kissed her, Cat looked panicked for a moment, and then she kind of leaned in. So I’m guessing her conversation with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) is on her mind. Remember when Doc asked Cat if she had feelings for EJ, if she loved him? Cat denied it to Marlena. But this lip-lock honestly looks like pure magic.
Days of Our Lives: Cat’s Honey Trap Works Too Well
And Cat was hoping her absence would make EJ’s heart grow fonder. So, her plan did work, maybe too well. Cat has this electric chemistry with EJ, at least as far as it seems. And Cat set up that honey trap even before this latest kiss, even though her FBI partner Rafe and her ISA boss Andrew cautioned her against it.
And right now, Cat and EJ are still remembering bits and pieces of their time in the hospital years ago. Most significantly, Cat and EJ remember the classic book Wuthering Heights. We saw flashbacks of Cat reading to EJ while he was in bed covered in bandages.
EJ Asks Cat to Dig Up Dirt on Dominic on DOOL
So, back in the present, EJ asked Cat to use her ISA research skills to find out all she can about Dominic. And it is urgent, because according to Dante Vitali (Franco LoPresti) and EJ’s daughter, Sydney DiMera (Sydney Malakeh), Dominic should arrive in Salem soon. So, EJ may find out that his brother backed out of buying the Kiriakis mansion because it failed inspection. We’ll see how that goes.
Since Dominic doesn’t have that house, he may take over the DiMera mansion. And nothing’s going to stop him from coming to Salem. It sounds like he wants to take over the entire DiMera family and the business, which is the last thing EJ wants. He just told Chad DiMera (Connor Floyd) that Dom may be behind the codicil replacing him as executor of Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo)’s will. So there’s lots to be suspicious about.
And we know Cat’s going to be curious to know more about Dominic as well. She’s still trying to bring EJ to justice, but there’s the question of whether he’s playing Cat, too, because you know EJ may really be testing her loyalty. Cat and EJ both may be playing with each other’s hearts and minds, but at the end of the day, I think he and Cat could very well fall in love with each other, and that would definitely put her in a confusing and possibly more dangerous situation.
Days of Our Lives: Who’s Playing Whom?
EJ’s obviously using her to get info on Dominic, but his attraction to Cat is why he asked her back. To start with, EJ is a criminal mastermind, and Cat is an excellent analyst, especially deep-diving into financial records. So, she may follow the paper trail, find Dominic, and learn more about him for EJ. However, if Cat’s not careful, this could make EJ wonder if she’s been spying on him the same way.
I see this going badly for Cat if she lets her growing feelings for EJ cloud her judgment and lead to mistakes that raise red flags. Or even worse, Cat falls for him, and then she buries evidence so the ISA and FBI can’t use it against EJ. And of course, there is the possibility that Cat’s getting played as well, because EJ is no dummy. He’s thinking about Cat’s connection to the ISA, especially with this request for her to use those skills to dig up dirt on Dominic.
I don’t think EJ is going to tolerate any more betrayal. So, he may betray Cat first, and EJ could lure Cat into doing something illegal, and then EJ blackmails her. On the flip side, Cat could find the evidence she needs to help the ISA and FBI bring down the mighty EJ once and for all. But when push comes to shove, will Cat actually take him down? Because there are feelings there.
Earlier this summer, Cat and EJ were talking about their budding relationship. And Cat told EJ she wanted to take things slowly. And maybe that was because Cat had been warned not to overstep with the honey trap, because Andrew flat-out told Cat, “Do not sleep with EJ.”
Cat and Chad’s Fallout on DOOL
Also complicating things is that Cat may have residual feelings for EJ’s brother, Chad. Well, she might have, but I think those are over now because he blew up at Cat. Remember, Chad blasted Cat for hiding the ISA thing from him, because EJ told Chad that Cat was ISA. So, Chad began to question why Cat pretended to be Abigail Deveraux DiMera (AnnaLynne McCord) when she came to Salem, because her ISA contacts should have made it so she could take down Clyde Weston (James Read) and not do what she did. And instead of that, Cat did Clyde’s bidding.
At any rate, Chad’s with Belle Black (Martha Madison) now, and he’s even said Cat seems to like EJ better than she did him. Chad and Marlena clearly sense that something is going on between Cat and EJ, and Cat may lose more than her job if she cozies up to EJ for real. So, Cat and EJ could wind up being Salem‘s hottest new couple. But the question is, how real is that relationship?
Many Days of Our Lives fans think that EJ’s just messing with Cat for his own agenda, and that it’s not about EJ really caring for Cat. Plus, it could be something more extreme, like EJ’s got that same sort of obsessive love that Stefano had for Queen of the Night Marlena. So, I have mentioned before that EJ might use Cat as his own queen of the night, but now that we see that she may be falling for EJ, that’s a very different situation than between Marlena and Stefano, because she never considered giving Stefano even one willing kiss. So, we’ll just have to wait and see if EJ’s using Cat, or she’s using him, or they’re both using each other.
