The Bold and the Beautiful stuns with Zende Forrester (Delon de Metz) recently bringing up his origin story of adoption, and with Melissa Dylan (Sydney Bullock)’s backstory of a broke single mom and then homelessness, they have the potential to launch an incredible youth line at Logan to rival how Hope for the Future used to be.
Today we’re going to talk about the possibility of Zende and Dylan launching a social awareness campaign at Logan and building a youth line brand around their interesting backstories, and how it would benefit Logan and hit hard at Forrester Creations.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Zende’s Departure from Forrester Creations
So, we just saw Zende recalling how lucky he was to become a Forrester. That was when he was telling Eric Forrester (John McCook) and Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) that he feels like he’s not being seen or appreciated at Forrester Creations. And Zende told Eric and Ridge how much he loves being part of the Forrester family.
And Zende retold his origin story of Eric’s daughter Kristen Forrester and her husband Tony Dominguez visiting Zende’s orphanage on their honeymoon in Africa in 2001. Kristen and Tony fell in love with Zende, who had lost his parents and his brother to the AIDS epidemic. So Tony and Kristen adopted Zende.
Tony’s Connection to Zende on B&B
And if you don’t remember, Kristen’s husband, Tony, was HIV positive, which is part of the reason that he felt a deep connection to Zende. The Forrester family had issues with Tony’s HIV status. But Eric pushed for acceptance, and he was even Tony’s best man. So, I feel like they might have been reminding fans of this story for a reason.
So, while Zende was telling Eric and Ridge that he was considering taking a job at Logan, we had Zende bringing up Kristen adopting him, in part because Zende wanted Eric and Ridge to know how grateful he was that Kristen brought him in and made him part of the Forrester family.
And Zende made it a point to acknowledge how much that meant to him, and he said he wasn’t leaving Forrester Creations to hurt the Forresters, because they are his family, and he said he loves Eric. He loves everybody deeply. This was incredibly hard for Zende. But he feels overlooked and does not feel like he has a future at the family business.
Bold and Beautiful: Zende Teams Up with Dylan
So, he officially quit Forrester Creations and accepted Katie Logan (Heather Tom)’s job offer at Logan, and along the way, Zende has gotten closer to Dylan. And I expect they vibe because of their underprivileged backstories. They are different stories. But both Zende and Dylan have been through some things.
And Zende seems committed to protecting Dylan. Because Zende fought back against Eric and Ridge firing Dylan simply because she encouraged Zende to talk to Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) and hear her out. She wasn’t telling him to go take a job. And as Zende said, Electra Forrester (Laneya Grace) blew it way out of proportion. Because she’s determined to get Dylan fired for personal reasons. Electra’s tantrum worked, and Ridge caved to Electra and RJ Forrester (Brayan Nicoletti)’s demands. But that meant Forrester Creations also lost Zende.
Will Determined to Help Dylan on B&B
So now he’s over at Logan, and Will Spencer (Crew Morrow)’s determined to get Katie to hire Dylan at House of Logan. Also, I don’t think Katie initially is going to be too happy about it. But if Will brings it up in front of Zende, I’m guessing that he will also push Katie to hire Dylan.
Also, Katie was trying to blame Dylan for Zende not accepting their offer. And now that he has taken Katie’s offer, it seems like she’s got to give Dylan credit where it is due. And I think Will’s going to push for that. So, I expect Katie’s got to suck it up and hire Dylan to make Will and Zende both happy. Because if Dylan had not done what Katie asked and talked to Zende, then Dylan wouldn’t have lost her job at Forrester Creations, and Zende wouldn’t be there.
A Charitable Vision for Logan on B&B
So right now, you know, Dylan’s fired, and Zende is looking forward to starting this new chapter at Logan, and he really, really missed working with Hope. Because she and Zende were doing something really special with Hope for the Future. And you might recall it was Katie who was CEO of Forrester Creations at the time. She’s actually the one that started Hope for the Future with Hope back in 2010, and its whole mission was built around integrity and purity and women’s empowerment, and Katie and Hope donated a portion of the proceeds to nonprofits.
So, Hope for the Future was centered around charitable causes, and now she’s over here with Katie. So, it looks like Forrester Creations may be done with charity. And with Zende recently talking about the poverty he lived in before he was adopted, and with Dylan growing up broke with a single mom and then going through homelessness, they both have stories to tell that would resonate.
Bold and the Beautiful: Zende Gives Logan a Heads Up
Plus, I’m sure Zende is going to mention the Forrester Creations youth line. Because I have no doubt that Logan‘s going to have a youth line to compete head-to-head with Forrester Creations‘ new Electra line. And since Katie is excellent at PR, I’m sure she can make the most of a social awareness campaign, just like she did with Hope back in the day when they were starting up that youth line. So, Zende and Dylan would be the perfect pair to front a youth line like this.
And then Logan could donate a portion of their sales to, you know, homeless shelters, food banks, HIV/AIDS charities, and other causes that would align with Zende and Dylan’s very interesting backstories. I think Katie would like it. I think Hope would too, because it could really make a big difference. And it would be a callback to what Katie and Hope had in mind when they set up her line sixteen years ago.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Comparing Business Strategies
And as far as we’ve heard, the new Electra youth line doesn’t have a mission like that. We haven’t heard anything about RJ and Electra or Ridge and them talking about empowering women with this new line, or any other charitable aspect. All they’re thinking about is sales to bail out Forrester Creations. So, I’m not sure if the family over there has thought about the fact that their charitable component left when Hope went over to work with Katie.
Ridge, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), and Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) are all so worried about their slumping sales numbers. I don’t think charity’s on their mind. And let’s be real, RJ and Electra do not have compelling stories to tell. RJ is a true spoiled nepo baby.
And Electra has never gone without a thing in her life. Her one hardship was Remy Pryce (Christian Weissmann) doing those deepfake nudes, which was terrible. But I’m not sure if that’s something they want to bring up in conjunction with a new youth line. And with Zende gone, I’m guessing RJ and Electra are going to be scrambling to complete the line, and that’s all they’re going to think of.
A Strategic Market Shift on B&B
But if Katie agrees that Logan should start up a youth line with a social aspect, including charitable contributions, that would further boost Logan and would be a big hit to Forrester Creations. Even worse, Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) may have one of his Eye on Fashion reporters call out Ridge and Steffy for not being charitable anymore.
And Katie’s going to issue a press release about Zende joining House of Logan. And I’m sure the very fact that he left Forrester Creations to join Katie is a statement of its own. Because Forrester Creations now has a bad rap for mistreating employees and for them walking out. If Forrester Creations isn’t contributing to charity anymore, then the optics get even worse.
Plus, this gives Katie and Hope the moral high ground and a positive new aspect to Logan. I’m sure in the long run, Forrester Creations will bounce back. But not until they fix their flawed corporate culture issues. I suspect Zende and Dylan joining Logan is going to be a huge boost. And it may start with a charity-focused youth line.
