“South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone renamed their long-running animated TV show “South America” in a not-so-subtle dig at the White House, big tech and the pair’s own corporate bosses, the producers said Tuesday.
And by Wednesday morning, Comedy Central’s website listed the show under its new MAGA-mocking title, “South America.”
President Donald Trump has long demanded that well-known geographic locations be changed to U.S.-centric titles, with his latest call to flip Lake Ontario to “Lake America” — name changes that Google and Apple have agreed to on their map apps.
“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” producers of the six-time Emmy winning show said in statement on Tuesday.
Parker and Stone didn’t spare the hand that feeds them, the Trump-approved media conglomerate Paramount Skydance.
“We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation,” the pair added.
The 29th season of the show formerly known as “South Park” is set to premiere a next Wednesday at 10 p.m. EDT and PDT on the Paramount Skydance -owned Comedy Central.
TV Guide still listed the show as “South Park” on Wednesday morning.
Google, Apple, Paramount and the White House did not immediately respond to NBC News requests for comment on Wednesday.
