Nia Long stepped out with her family for the Los Angeles premiere of Michael on April 20.
The actress arrived at the Dolby Theatre with her two sons, Massai Zhivago Dorsey II and Kez Sunday Udoka, along with her mother, Talita Long.
Nia took to Instagram to share a photo of herself and her two boys on premiere night. She captioned, “My loves @massaidorsey @kezlong_ ”
Michael, the biopic centered on the life of Michael Jackson, stars Jaafar Jackson in the lead role, with Colman Domingo among the cast.
In the film, Long portrays Jackson family matriarch Katherine Jackson.

During a recent interview with That Grape Juice, Nia spoke about what drew her to the role.
“I’m a huge Michael Jackson fan. And I actually met Michael at the very beginning stages of my career and I just thought it’s so important for us to celebrate for Katherine. That was her goal to raise and nurture her children.”
She also explained how she prepared for the part.
“Just finding the truth in the moment, finding the truth in the scene, finding the truth in what a woman’s objective is when she’s there as the take caretaker of her family and her children. And you know she’s a matriarch. So that means that there’s a certain amount of grace and elegance and direct or deliberateness in the way that she chooses to raise her children and how she keeps her home and how she dresses and making meals for her family.”

Long added that her life as a mom of two helped her connect with the character.
“She’s a very traditional woman. And so I tapped into all of those ideas because I mean Katherine Jackson is probably a culmination of all the women that I know and and listen, I’m a black mom. It’s not that difficult for me and I understand the experience to a certain extent. The experience may be slightly different, but the core of the experience is the same.”
