Is ‘Temptation Island’ Scripted? Season 2 Contestant Kai Stone Spills The Tea
Speaking with Reality Shrine about the latest batch of episodes, Kai, 29, got candid about whether the Netflix series is scripted or if it’s 100% authentic.
According to Kai, while the cast members aren’t given a script for the day, they can feel the producers’ hands stirring the pot.
“It’s not scripted like people think—no one’s telling you what to say—but it’s definitely engineered,” said Kai. “The producers know what they’re doing. You’re put in situations that are going to bring stuff out of you—good, bad, whatever’s already there.”
Kai went on to say that being put in high-stakes situations on “Temptation Island” can bring out a lot of emotions. “But what you say and how you react—that’s on you,” he said, calling the process “intense” before saying the cast is “basically on all the time.”
‘Temptation Island’ Cast Member Reveals What It Was Like Filming The Show

The series follows four couples who are struggling with serious issues—from transparency to maturity—and places them on a tropical island where they are tempted by a group of attractive singles.
While it may seem like a walk in the park, Kai shared that being part of the series is more work than the viewers may realize. “You’re mic’d up all day, cameras are always around, when you’re not filming something structured, you’re still ‘on,’” he shared.
The software company CEO said there’s ‘not much time to step away and reset,” so when you’re on the show, things feel much more severe than they really are. “You kind of lose your sense of time a bit,” he said.
How Did Kai Get Cast On Season 2 Of The Popular Netflix Reality Show?

So, how did Kai even make it on the show to begin with? The former professional video game player said a casting producer reached out to him on social media and encouraged him to apply.
While he wasn’t fond of the idea at first, he changed his tune pretty quickly after realizing how much could come from the experience.
“At first I didn’t think much of it, but after a few conversations, I was like, alright, this could either be a disaster or something I learn a lot from,” he said.
Kai Is Dating Someone Who Was Almost Cast On ‘Temptation Island’

Although Kai didn’t leave “Temptation Island” with one of the four leading ladies, it was probably for the best. In a separate interview, Kai said he actually met someone just weeks before filming the show, and while he was away, he “couldn’t stop thinking about her.”
Kai explained that the girl he connected with was actually going through casting for the show; however, she wasn’t chosen. Once filming for the show began, Kai “realized pretty quickly my head wasn’t in it.”
“I kept thinking about her. It’s hard to fully lean into the experience when you’re starting to develop real feelings for someone back home. I wasn’t interested in forcing connections just to play the game,” he said.
Was Kai Nervous About Joining The Show And Displaying His Personal Life For The World?

Regarding the series, Kai implied he was a bit apprehensive about signing on the dotted line at first, noting that it felt like a big deal signing up to be broadcast in front of the entire world.
“You’re putting your relationship, your business, your personal life, all of it, out there for people to judge,” he said.
However, Kai also recognized that seeing the experience through could lead to significant rewards in other areas of his life.
“At the same time, those are the kinds of situations that really show you who you are. For me, it came down to whether I wanted to stay comfortable or actually challenge myself,” he went on. “I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I didn’t want to play it safe and look back wondering ‘what if.’”
