Robertson has racked up an impressive 373 appearances for the Merseyside club and has won every trophy available to him.

The 32-year-old has played second fiddle to summer signing Milos Kerkez this season but has still racked up 19 Premier League appearances.

However, with his contract set to expire this summer, the Scotland captain will be available on a free transfer.

Robertson is a boyhood Celtic supporter and was part of the club’s youth system before being released at the age of 15.

A return to Paradise?

And according to talkSPORT Breakfast co-hosts Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour, Robertson could finally get his chance to pull on the green and white hoops.

“I can see Robertson going to Celtic but [Kieran] Tierney’s still there isn’t he?” Parlour asked his broadcast colleague.

Die-hard Celtic fan Brazil replied: “Tierney’s had a great career but I think the injuries have caught up with him a little bit.

“Robertson’s an East Kilbride boy, a Celtic man, so maybe.”
