Keshia Chanté is expecting her first child, a baby boy!
The 38-year-old singer announced her pregnancy on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and revealed the sex of her baby in an interview with Hello! Canada.
“I’m so excited,” she said. “I’m such a girlie girl. I’m always in pink. Everything is pink and pink and pink. So I thought I was gonna have a girl, but it’s a boy! I’m so excited for all the boy fashion!”
The pregnancy has not been without its challenges. Chanté revealed that her first trimester was especially difficult.
“I got my ass kicked,” she admitted. “I couldn’t even hold down a sip of water. I ended up losing 14 pounds. Everything – every scent, every sound, everything – was overwhelming. I pretty much locked myself in my room for two months.”

As she prepares to welcome her son, Chanté already has an idea of the kind of mom she wants to be.
“I just have this idea of being the mom who decorates the home and celebrates every holiday, and puts notes in his lunch box,” she shared. “I imagine myself being some sort of Disney mom.”
She is also looking forward to the smaller moments that come with motherhood.
“I’m looking forward to all the little moments – like when they coo and the first smile and the first step and the first laugh,” she said. “I’m excited to take him to a music studio, take him to the beach.”
She added, “I want to be in my mommy-mogul era – we will see when that activates. I want my son to see his mom busy and doing what she loves.”
Chanté has chosen to keep her partner out of the public eye, which has fueled speculation online about the baby’s father. Drake was among the names that surfaced, but a representative for the rapper told TMZ that they “completely and unequivocally” deny that he is the father.
Even after the rumors, Chanté did not reveal who she is expecting with, but she confirmed during the interview that she is in a relationship.
“I’m unavailable,” she told the outlet before sharing that her partner was ready to become a parent. “He said he was ready. He set up the play and he nailed it! God bless him.”
She also spoke about the qualities she admires in her partner and hopes their son inherits from him.
“He’s brilliant and super creative and just constantly doing things that I’m inspired by,” she said. “So I would love to see my son have his mannerisms and his swag.”
The parents-to-be are already talking about introducing their son to music. Chanté joked that they plan to get him into the studio as soon as he can “coo – and hold that note!”
