Lewis Hall has lifted the lid on his decision to sign a new long-term deal with Newcastle United.
The England defender was the subject of considerable transfer interest from Manchester United throughout the summer.

However, he opted against a potential move to Old Trafford in order to commit his future to the Magpies.
Hall penned a new five-year deal through to 2030 earlier this month.
His contract extension does not include a release clause in a further boost to Newcastle.
Why did Hall snub United?
The 22-year-old has now admitted new manager Matthias Jaissle and the club’s own transfer business contributed to his decision.
Speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle, Hall was asked if the transfer interest during the summer affected him.
He explained: “No, honestly, it didn’t. I guess whenever you’re linked to another team, you know that you’re doing something right.
“I guess it’s just a credit to your own performances and how you are as a player, how you are as a person.
“I took that as a positive, but at the same time, I knew how much I love playing here and I knew that since the manager came in, I knew the ambitions and what we wanted to achieve.
“After not many conversations, not many training sessions, I knew that the manager was going to be really good for this club and I knew that as a team, bringing in new players and improving the squad was really important and as soon as we did that, it was a no-brainer really to sign.”
United were keen on a move for Hall throughout the transfer window, with enquiries made over his availability.

The Red Devils were ultimately unable to secure his signature, though.
Newcastle under Jaissle
Hall has since played every minute for Newcastle across all competitions so far this term as well as earning an England recall.
His goal against Hull City on Saturday added to two assists across seven appearances under Jaissle.
The German was appointed as Eddie Howe’s successor in August ahead of the start of the new season.
Meanwhile, Newcastle spent almost £280million in the summer rebuilding their squad.
It followed the departures of key men Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon.

However, they have invested heavily in the likes of Matias Fernandez-Pardo, Nico Gonzalez and Bazoumana Toure.
Jaissle’s side returned to winning ways against Hull at the weekend following a shock 4-1 defeat at Leeds United.
The result leaves Newcastle ninth in the Premier League after five matches.
They return to action away to Coventry City on October 12 following the international break.
